Bridal Shower!

This past weekend, my friends and family got together and threw the most amazing Bridal Shower!  I had a great time celebrating with the girls!  From what I hear, this was a pretty big shower.  Let me walk you through the details!  (Some of the photos are Instagram photos so have filters applied - thanks Amanda for taking so many photos!)

I was obviously not involved with the planning but in talking with the girls, we decided to do one shower rather than several different ones.  My mom and aunt took care of the food and they also held the shower at my aunts house.  There was so much amazing food!  My family took care of making some Korean cuisine - as well as some shower favorites just in case Korean food was a little too spicy for some of the attendees!  I ate a ton and we even had left overs!

The girls did an amazing job with decorating as well!  I loved the "Soon to be Mrs. Di Leo" banner!  The girls took a ton of photos of me & Rob and added them to the decor too.

How perfect are the decorations?  They also gave us a hashtag for the shower!  So cute :)

Of course food & games was followed by gifts.  I am so grateful for everything!  And I'm not complaining, but I had to have a glass of wine with gift opening - I am so uncomfortable being the center of attention!  My bridesmaids thought this was hilarious and of course - told me this is just the beginning:)
Mom helping out:)

A special thanks to my bridal party for putting the shower together - it was perfect!

The last post, I mentioned those cute polka dot gift bags - those were a little thank you for all the girls that helped out!

I ordered some personalized stationary for each girl and stuffed them into those polka dot bags.  I have gone through this shop before on Etsy for a Christmas gift and went back because I loved the product!

Again, thank you to all our friends and family involved - such a lovely shower!  And we are getting so close to the wedding!  We will continue to be busy meeting with vendors from here on out!  Everyone is telling me to stay calm :)  So I'm trying to enjoy it all as we go through the planning and get to the big day!

DIY Welcome Bags & Gift Bags

The wedding is 49 days away and as we prep for the big day, I've been experimenting with some DIY crafts!  Well the first project this weekend was more DIY than the second but I'll be sharing both accomplishments this weekend because I think they are so cute!

First, Rob and I have been playing around with having 'Welcome Bag' for the wedding.  We feel like this is a nice to have for any of our out of town wedding guests as they arrive into Columbus.  I love the idea of using a canvas tote since they can be used for multiple things after the wedding.  I headed to JoAnn Fabrics and found all different styles of totes but decided on a plain white canvas shopper that was 13.5" x 13.5".  I also found a cute chevron patterned iron on sheet (I only got one sheet since I wanted to experiment before committing).

The next steps were pretty easy!  I cut out a solid heart and outline of a heart from the sheet.  With the remaining scraps, I cut out smaller hearts to place around the bigger heart (That's a lot of hearts!).  I turned the iron to high, placed the hearts where I wanted them on the bag and placed the iron on top for 20 seconds.  I let the design cool for a few seconds and peeled off the top paper.  Easy!

If the iron on doesn't stick, you place the iron back on for another 15 seconds.  I made the mistake of letting the iron sit a little too long on one of the bags and left a bit of a yellow burn mark - oops!  I also recommend letting the iron on cool only for a few seconds before removing the top paper.  I left one on for a few minutes and it was really difficult to peel off - I was scraping it off!

How cute!  and so easy to make!  Now I want to make one to keep too!  Anyways :) we may use these for the wedding - but since some of our readers will be at the wedding I'm not going to spill any more details on what will be inside!

Same goes for these lil gift bags I have for my bridesmaids!  I found these cute polka dot gift bags at Target this weekend and had to get them!

Gift bags

To keep the bags girly, I pulled out the pink sharpie and wrote their names in the right corner of the bag.

Not really a DIY but these bags are just adorable!  I hope the girls like whats inside too!  I'll share details on that AFTER they actually get the gifts :)

So much fun - you know I love to get crafty and I love getting these things accomplished!  We have a lot of small details left to the wedding planning and I know these 49 days are going to continue to fly by!  I'm trying to balance the wedding and the house - so we'll have some updates on both continuing to come!

Wedding Details!

I can't believe we are 67 days away from getting married!  The time is flying by and we need to focus on our wedding to-do list!  I am super anxious as always so I'm probably being a little critical - when I look at the actual checklist, we're staying on track to the timeline.  Some fun things we've accomplished so far...

Invites went out!  We worked with a family friend who has an amazing stationary shop called Invite More Designs.  She made us custom invites and was able to incorporate our sweet pup Fudge into the RSVP.

We also had our tasting this week and got to try all the yummy food we'll be eating at the wedding!  Although, I've heard as the bride & groom you don't have time to eat during reception!  There were so many different options of things to try it was overwhelming.  Hopefully we made some good choices!

We are also excited that we've started to receive wedding gifts!  I hope that doesn't sound tacky - but seriously, pretty fun to get our first few gifts this week:)  I was talking to a friend who mentioned that we should have waited until after the wedding to open any gifts.  Whoops!  We definitely didn't realize there were rules to when we opened the gifts.  I looked up some wedding etiquette and have seen all kinds of different opinions on this, what do you guys think?  Bad form?  I'm wondering now if we should hold off on opening anything before the wedding - but then thank you notes wouldn't get out to people for months.  Either way, I wanted to throw out there that we are very thankful for all the love and support from our friends and family!

I cannot wait to get our invite and a wedding picture into that beautiful frame!

Next on the list is finalizing our ceremony readings.  We have been looking through a few samples but I want to make sure the readings represent us as a couple.  I don't think we meet for another month to make final choices but seems like such a big part of the wedding ceremony so its been on my brain!  Outside of that we need to go through details like the program, seating cards...the list goes on!  We'll get there slowly but surely!  In the meantime, I'm trying to relax and not get to anxious about everything!

Rob's Birthday Recap

Rob turned 31 last week and we decided to take a small break from house projects to celebrate!  We were very excited for Rob's dad, Jack, to come into town to help us celebrate!  We haven't seen Jack since we got engaged so it was great to spend some time with him.  Our parents met for the first time too!  Aside from just getting to visit and spend some quality time with Jack, we did a lot of eating:)

There is a great German Sausage Haus that has an all you can eat sausage buffet.  The food is so good and of course they have some fun things to do while you wait for a table:

We also couldn't miss this opportunity to take Jack to Kittie's Cakes.  I will take any chance I can get to get some of those amazing cupcakes!  They probably think we are a lil aggressive with our cupcakes - Rob wanted to make sure Jack got to try all the flavors, so we got 14 cupcakes!  and a whoopie pie for 3 people!  We have to figure out what flavors we want for the wedding so at least we have an excuse.

Now I love to celebrate birthdays in a big way!  But Rob and I wanted to relax and hang out with Jack, especially with his bachelor party coming up.  Since I couldn't go big with balloons and we already have so many cupcakes, I made Rob some birthday pancakes.

We spent the rest of the day around the house.  We were able to also knock out some wedding invitations which I'm sure Rob was pretty excited about.

Fudge loves Grandpa D!  and she even made it on the invites!

(Speaking of wedding invitations, the wedding is in 3 months!  This next few months will be crazy with sorting through the details and I can't wait!)

We had such a great time for Rob's birthday and visiting with Jack!   We've been running around so much the past few weeks that stopping to just hang out was a really nice and much needed break.  To cap off Rob's birthday, he was promoted this week at work!  I'm so proud of him!

We'll be focusing on the wedding for a bit and I'll post how wedding planning is going soon!

Wedding to-do's and Cake!

Building a new house is stressssful!  Planning a wedding at the same time is twice the fun.  It's interesting that when we have some down time with the house, wedding planning kicks back up and vice versa.  I guess that works in our favor!  Since the house is out of our control (but hopefully making progress), Rob and I are tackling some things on the wedding to-do list.  We had knocked out a lot of our big ticket items pretty early but the details are ongoing.  Luckily, I love putting the details together...I have a vision of how I want the wedding and reception to feel, so getting to sort through and finalize details is so fun for me!  Now, I've heard (and believe) that after the wedding no one will remember the details, but I can't help it, I love seeing everything laid out and pretty!  We went to event source last week to look at every possible decor option you could imagine.  It was so much fun!  for me :)  However, I don't think Rob shares my excitement in picking out tablecloths and napkins... the cake tastings on the other hand, he's on board with and we've been able to squeeze a few into our schedule over the last two weekends.  I can confidently say we both had a good time in the cake tastings.  Who knew they would be so fun?  We've tried everything from pistachio to chocolate dr. pepper to lavender - all of the flavors were amazing!  It is going to be a hard decision and you'll have to wait to the wedding to see what we pick!  These pics should hold you over....or at least motivate you to go out and buy some cake.
