New Glass Pendants in the Dining Room!

Glass pendants were one of the first purchases we had for the house and this weekend we finally had a chance to get them up in the dining room!  We had looked allover for the right lighting and originally planned to buy a cluster of light pendants from West Elm.  When browsing at one of my favorite decor shops, The Collection, we spotted these perfect light pendants and bought them after a few weeks of comparing to the lights at West Elm.

The lights have been sitting in the buffet since we've moved in because putting them up didn't seem like the easiest task.  The dining room was originally built with a ceiling fan so we had to put some work into figuring out how to replace the fan with two plug in pendants.  Luckily, it wasn't too difficult, well sort of.

We moved some furniture around and with the help of my parents and got the fan down.  Then we had to change the wiring for the lights from needing a standard electrical outlet to being hard wired into the room.  My step-dad is pretty handy with house repairs so he was doing a majority of this!

After we figured the wiring out, we had to look at the placement - this is where it got tricky.  The lights were displayed in the store with one light hanging lower than the other, they looked so cute clustered together.  We tried to hang them clustered above the table but it just looked off.  We decided to hang them at the same height (about 36" above the table) but a little further apart from each other.  After we figured out the height to hang them, we had to install some hooks - the lights hang from rope around the wiring.  The rope comes out of the ceiling, loop to a hooks, and then we tied a knot in the rope to keep the light at the height we wanted.  Check out the finished product below:

I love them!  So glad we were finally able to get them up.  The project was pretty easy, granted without the help of my parents it might not have been so simple!
