Family Room

After a few weeks of play (Rob's bday, Jack's visit, quick trip to Florida), it is time to jump back into work.  And by work, I mean work on the house.  Rob and I had agreed that we would hold off on house updates until after the wedding, but I can't help myself - I want to decorate!  I look at these blank walls everyday and they are in need of some loving.

Realistically, we do need to focus on the wedding and can't run around updating the house every weekend.  However, we got our tax returns back :) and ran into a sale :) ;) so we took the opportunity to purchase a few things we had been admiring for months!  We found these awesome antiqued canvas New York & Chicago maps at a local boutique.  They are a perfect addition to our family room!

My original thought for the nook in our family room was to keep this floor mirror leaning against a wall with some accent chairs in front of it.

After we found these maps, we thought they'd be a better fit.

We had two extra dining chair from West Elm surrounding the buffet, we pulled them as accent chairs for this wall for the time being.  Accent Chairs will definitely be an after wedding focus!

Lastly, we pulled some decorative pieces and a blanket to style the sitting area.  I'm loving this nook now!  Our family room is finally starting to pull together!

A few close ups:

I think the new maps and chairs look great - finally, no more bare walls!  Not quite sure what we're going to do with all the family pictures leaning against the wall but we'll get there.

Along with the maps, we also have antiqued panel mirrors that will be going up in the dining room.  More on that soon!
